LEBANON, Ore. – Firefighters rescued two dogs and a cat from a burning home in Lebanon on Sunday afternoon, giving them oxygen while other crew members worked to extinguish the flames.

The fire was reported about 2:15 p.m. at a home on the Santiam Highway. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames on the back half of the house.

Crews worked to stop the fire from spreading into the nearby field.

While on-scene, the homeowner arrived and let firefighters know that their pets were still inside.

Firefighters went in and rescued the homeowner’s two dogs and cat. The animals were given oxygen from a tank at the scene and appeared to be healthy.

The 24 firefighters stayed on-scene for about 3 hours to ensure that the fire was out.
