Christian Martin Black, 25, of Zanesville, Ohio, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Christian was born February 20, 2000 in Newark, Ohio to his mother Misti Lynn (Martin) and father Kenya Maurice Black. Christian is preceded in death by his Nanny Noodle, Shirley Willams; and cousins, Traig Hodge and Darius Shackleford.

Christian leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother, Misti L. Black; his father, Kenya M. Black; his best friend and beloved sister, Chiara Black; nephew, who was his “God”son and whom he deeply loved, Nyza Christian; grandparents, Caye (Ric Jones) Walker and Gary (Chris Cleary) Martin; several aunts and uncles; several cousins, including Eeyah Walker, to whom he was more like an uncle-dad, giving his guidance and love when needed; pet dog, Braxton, who loved to nestle in his hair; and innumerable friends. It would be impossible to name all those who held a place in Christian’s heart and even more troublesome to name all those whose lives he’s touched during his time here on Earth.

Christian grew up in Newark, Ohio, where he attended and graduated Newark High School. He was an athlete, he loved sports and played them all. Christian was also an honors student. Following High School, he attended Findlay University on a football scholarship before deciding to end his athletic career. He later transferred to The Ohio State University on an academic scholarship where he studied until his schooling was disrupted by the covid pandemic. Christian loved to travel. He enjoyed kicking back with his friends and drinking his Don Julio and smoking. One of his most favorite pastimes was eating. He knew good food and enjoyed it, such as his mom’s cooking, and fine dining like the Ocean Club. Christian had a beautiful smile and a loud, infectious laugh that captured any room he was in. He had a huge heart and was loving, loyal and giving. He was truly a gentle giant. Christian lived his best life: every single day of his 25 years. His love, friendship and genuine spirit will be missed by many, but his legacy will live on forever through those who were honored enough to have known him.
