Deciding to bring a dog into your life is so exciting, but it can also be quite overwhelming. For those new to the world of pets, the prospect of becoming a dog owner might seem intimidating, particularly when it comes to training your new furry friend.

While you have the option to join training and behaviour classes, much of the responsibility for teaching your pooch proper manners falls on you. Neglecting early training can lead to lifelong bad habits, causing frustration for both you and your pet.

Thankfully, dog experts on social media are here to help, with one in particular highlighting some of the most trainable breeds. Canine behavioural expert Will Atherton took to TikTok to share his insights on the dog breeds he finds easiest to train, singling out three as the 'easiest in the world', reports the Express.

He said: "When you're choosing an easy-to-train breed, the main thing that we're looking for is handler engagement and eagerness to please. If they're driven by food, even better, and that combination creates incredibly easy to train dogs."

Will counts this breed among his personal favourites and highlights its ease of training. Labradors have become the UK's top dog breed, likely due to their receptiveness to commands.

The Spruce Pets notes that these adorable dogs are highly intelligent, patient, and playful. Their hardy disposition is also why many service dogs are Labradors.

They thrive on rewards and possess an abundance of energy, making daily exercise essential.

This breed might not be commonly known, but you've likely encountered them at some point. Noted for their original role in herding, Belgian Malinois boast remarkable intelligence, which sees them excel in roles like police work, bomb detection, and event security, according to PetMD.

Will commented: "It's no surprise that these are used for incredibly high-level working capabilities."

Once again, they exhibit high energy levels requiring regular exercise, yet they are also exceptionally loyal and smart, making them fantastic companions when kept active.

Border Collie

Famed for their sheep-herding skills, border collies are highly intelligent and continuously eager to learn.

Will said: "They are one of, if not the most, intelligent dog breeds from an IQ perspective, and again the reason why you'll see so many of them competing in obedience competitions."

The Collie Consultant highlights that border collies pick up new commands quickly and are easily motivated through play and treats.
