A fashion show featuring clothes from various retailers is scheduled at 1, 3 and 5 p.m. Aug. 13. The 20th annual Back-to-School event is set from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 20. “The Cat’s Meow”: The immersive staging play is scheduled for an extended run at 7 p.m. Sundays beginning Aug. 7 at the Velveteen Rabbit, 1218 S. Main St. Cocktail hour is scheduled at 6 p.m. The play is set in November 1924 when a mysterious Hollywood death occurred aboard media mogul William Randolph Hearst’s yacht. Included among the famous guests that weekend were Charlie Chaplin; Hearst’s mistress, starlet Marion Davies; the studio system creator, producer Thomas Ince; and feared gossip columnist, Louella Parsons.
