Katie Price's online followers have shared their concerns over her latest pet.

The former glamour model purchased a new Sphynx cat in February this year after animal rights charities called for Katie to stop owning pets. In recent years, she has sparked concerns, with five dogs, a chameleon and a horse dying in her care. Many had been involved in road traffic accidents close to her home in Sussex.

It was also claimed that Katie had "lost interest" in her puppy, Tank, and gave him away to new owners. PETA had written to Katie in February and offered her a sum of money to stop owning animals – but she hadn't accepted this. Instead, Katie had allegedly "tried to speak to PETA many times".

Now, the 45-year-old has proudly showed off her £1,200 Sphynx cat, Frog. Many of her followers instantly rushed to the comment section of her upload to share their concerns. Taking to Instagram in view of her 2.6 million followers, the telly personality shared a snap of Frog spread out on what appeared to be the floor.

The hairless cat could be seen sprawled out on a rug or blanket as Katie said: "Frog is comfy tonight." The Sphynx cat, known for its lack of fur, originated in Toronto, Canada, but is known for their curious and energetic personality. Her post which has attracted over 2,000 likes was soon flooded with comments.

"I hope you take good care of this cat Katie," fumed one. A second follower penned: "I hope you look after it properly they need a lot of looking after." "Till he's not cute on Instagram any more..." added a third. Meanwhile, another went on to write: "How long until you give this one up? You don't deserve animals and the @rspca should get involved."

"Wonder how long this one will last," commented another. In a letter sent to Katie in February, PETA said: "Things have gone horribly wrong with many of the animals under her supervision." Vice President of the organisation, Elisa Allen said: "While your intentions may be good, the ever-growing number of animals who have either died under your supervision or been given away is impossible to ignore, and people are rightly concerned."

"Whatever you may offer as reasons for their suffering, relinquishment, or demise, the fact is that you are consistently harming these sensitive, sentient individuals, and I hope you agree that this is a solution." While Katie hasn't commented much on Frog, speaking previously on The Katie Price Show podcast, she said to her sister Sophie: "Fifteen minutes before I come on here, I get a call from a friend across the road, 'Kate, someone has just given me a puppy, they can't have it, can you have it?'

"I am like, 'What is it?' 'A Black Labrador,' and I went, 'Aw I really can't have any more dogs, and I said, 'Just bring it over.' So I have got a nine-week-old Labrador puppy. They had puppies, sold it to someone and they got it for their kid who has got autism but the kid is going absolutely mad with it. They have had it three weeks, the puppy must be 12 weeks, sorry. Tiny it is."
